Coaching Positions


Title: Assistant Softball Coach


Responsibilities:

Assist in the development and implementation of recruitment and enrollment goals for students.  Actively participate in the all recruiting events including maintaining written and oral communications with prospective students.  Development of recruitment materials, facilitate recruitment efforts by faculty and enroll and advise students.

Assistant Softball Coach: Assist the head softball coach with all aspects of the program including but not limited to team travel, recruiting student athletes (school visits, campus visits and scouting games), advising and monitoring academic progress of student-athletes maintaining facility, and teaching the fundamentals of pitching, hitting, and defense, coordinating the strength and conditioning program for student-athletes, participation in fund raising activities, and any other duties assigned by Head Coach or Athletic Administration. 

Student Recruiter:
Assist the admissions office in recruiting prospective students. During high school visits with athletes there will be an effort to visit all prospective students to provide information about the college and the programs offered.

 

                   Required qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree.
  • Knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with computers.
  • Must be a confident public speaker, and communicate well with athletes, parents, and coaches.
  • Must maintain a valid Kansas driver’s license.

Title: Head Volleyball Coach


Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Athletic Director, duties for the Head Volleyball Coach will consist of managing and coaching the volleyball program, including, recruiting and advising athletes, public relations, fundraising and other responsibilities within the boundaries of the rules and regulations of the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference, the National Junior College Athletic Association and Dodge City Community College.

  • To understand and commit to the Mission of the College ~ To provide challenging and diverse opportunities for the pursuit of learning and to enhance personal and community development in a responsible, accessible, and learner-centered environment.
  • Knowledge of volleyball to lead and develop the volleyball program.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Direct practice games.
  • Schedule all games and scrimmages.
  • Advise and enroll volleyball players in classes.
  • Knowledge and ability to recruit student athletes in accordance with NJCAA, Jayhawk Conference and College regulations and guidelines.
  • Obtain transportation and lodging for games and scrimmages.
  • Purchase, inventory and maintain equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain volleyball budget.
  • Aid and supervise work-study students.
  • Coordinate volleyball fund raising events, through Athletic Director approval.
  • Maintain scholarship limitations amounts with student-athletes.
  • Establish and maintain off-season program for players according to all NJCAA and KJCCC guidelines.
  • Knowledge of resistance and weight training principles, techniques, facilities and equipment.
  • Promote the volleyball program through involvement within the community and Alumni Booster Association.
  • Assist the department with all assigned duties and solicit items for the Alumni Booster Auction.
  • Attend all Athletic Department meetings and other College committees as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

                   Required qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Prior collegiate coaching and recruiting experience in the sport
  • Knowledge of NJCAA and KJCCC rules and regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to advise and monitor student athletes
  • Ability to work with staff members and volleyball team members
  • Proven ability to work with diverse populations including traditional and non-traditional students
  • Valid Kansas driver’s license
