Diesel Engine Mechanic and Repairer
The rapid advances in diesel technology, such as computer controlled engines, transmissions and anti-lock brake systems are causing a severe shortage of qualified technicians.
With the training that the DCCC Diesel Technology Program can provide, students will be qualified and prepared to enter the work force and be leaders in the field.
Diesel Engine Fundamentals
Design, operation and troubleshooting of engines and related systems as well as tune up procedures.
Truck & Heavy Equipment Systems
The course will introduce the student to steering, brakes, and suspension systems.
Heavy Duty Power Trains
Operation and maintenance of heavy duty truck transmissions, differentials, clutches, and power shift transmissions.
A basic introduction to the operation and testing of hydraulic systems on farm machinery and heavy equipment.
Diesel Industrial Engine Overhaul
The student will disassemble, take measurements to evaluate wear and reassemble engine to a start-run status.
Shop Operations/Customer Relations
The class will emphasize safety, the use of hand tools, and basic shop operation. This course will also familiarize the student with all phases of the automotive service business.
Electronic Systems I & II
This course will focus on current and emerging technologies in the electronic engine, transmission and antilock braking systems.
The course is designed to provide the student with a basic understanding of electrical fundamentals and system components. The student will also learn the proper use of electrical test equipment such as meters and scopes.
Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning
A course designed to familiarize the student with the operating principles, service, and diagnostic techniques of Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems in today’s automobiles and heavy trucks, including farm and heavy equipment applications.
