Conquistador Sports Medicine
Dodge City Community College sports medicine provides for and directs
the implementation of health care for all student athletes. One NATABOC/KSBHA
certified & licensed athletic trainer on staff initiates athletes’
introduction into the system. A staff of student athletic trainers along
with community health care providers including physicians, physician
assistants, nurse practitioners, and physical therapists supplement
athletic training services. Athletes may also be seen clinically in the
athletic training facility on a weekly basis at no charges to the
individual.
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Dodge City Community College athletic training
department is to assure prompt and appropriate health/medical care set
to high standards, utilizing sound evidence based knowledge. Each
participating student/athlete is to receive these services regardless of
sport or season. Further goals are to assure meaningful education to the
individual and provide a quality learning experience for both athletes
and student trainers with prospective careers in athletic training.
VISION STATEMENT
Dodge City Community College sports medicine will be recognized as a
quality athletics healthcare program committed to high standards
regarding staff, healthcare services, ancillary health services,
education, and academic success.
WHAT IS ATHLETIC TRAINING?
Athletic training is an American Medical Association (AMA) recognized
allied health care profession focused on providing quality health care
to all individuals maintaining active lifestyles. This includes
athletic, recreationally active, and industrially active people. The
certified athletic trainer is a board certified health care professional
educated to evaluate, treat, manage, and rehabilitate injuries occurring
as a result of activity.
