Casey Malek begins his 36th year at Dodge City Community College and his second in the position of Director of Athletics. His first tenure as Director of Athletics was from 1995-2000.
Dodge City has seen Malek fill many positions in his career at DCCC. He currently holds a professorship in the HPER Department and serves as the Division Chairperson. He was the Head Men's Basketball Coach from 1981-89 during which time he became the second all-time winning coach in the school's history. Malek is the only coach in the school's history to win conference and regional championships in two different sports: Golf in 1992, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2010 and Basketball in 1982 and 1984. In 1991, Malek filled in as the interim Head Women’s Basketball Coach and led the team to a Region VI Playoff spot.
During Malek's tenure as Head Men’s Golf Coach, the Conqs won six Conference Championships and five NJCAA District III Championships. They finished no lower than third only three times in the 21 years he coached golf. He has coached 61 All-Conference players, 6 NJCAA All-Americans, 5 Ping Golf Coaches Association of America All-Americans and the Conquistadors went to the NJCAA National Championships every year he was head coach. His golf teams were nationally ranked 18 of the last 21 years. Malek was inducted in to the NJCAA Golf Hall Of Fame in May of 2012.
Malek served six years as the President of the NJCAA Division I Coaches Association and served on the National Poll Committee. He was also responsible in the organization and running of the NJCAA Division I National Golf Championship during his tenure as president. Malek was the Tournament Director for the 2004 & 2005 NJCAA National Championships that were held at Mariah Hills Golf Course in Dodge City.
Casey Malek began his coaching career at Herington High School (Herington, Kansas) where he was the Head Boys Basketball and Golf Coach. His teams won conference basketball championships, and were the 1977 Class 1-2-3A State Golf Champions.
Casey Malek’s wife Debby is the book store director at Dodge City Community College. Debby and Casey have three children, Andy (31), Sara (28), and Katy (23).
Coach Malek enjoys outdoor activities, such as hunting and fishing. Malek is involved in the Dodge City community serving on the Ducks Unlimited Committee He can be reached at 620-227-9349
