Season Outlook
2011-2012 Recap
The 2011-2012 season saw the Conquistadors finished as KJCCC Conference Champions and 7th at the NJCAA National Championship. It also marked the 22 st straight year the school competed at the NJCAA National Golf Championships. The Conqs also finished the season ranked in the national poll (13th). The Conquistadors won three tournaments and had six top ten finishes.
The 2011-2011 season saw the Conquistadors place fiveplayers on the All-KJCCC Conference team: ALex Tiong(1st Team), Mariano Rossi (1st Team), Parker Dolezal (2nd Team), and Loran Richmeier and Bobby Taggart( Honorable Mention.The selections makes 66 Conquistadors that have been selected to the All-Conference teams in the past 22 years. Alex Tiong was the conference individual champion for the second year in a row winning two tournament during the conference season. He also was a member of the NJCAA District III Team and was an ALL-Region VI Selection Dodge City leads all other conference schools in all-conference selections. Chien Hau Tan's was selected to the Ping Golf Coaches Association All-American Team (1st Team) for the second straight year while Alex Tiong was selected to the second team . Alex also was selected to the 2nd Team Ping Golf Coaches Association All-American Team. Mariabo Rossi was selected to the 2nd Team Ping Golf Coaches Association All-American Team and was also a member of the Ping Golf Coaches Association All-Freshmen Team.
Sophomores Alex Tiong, Loran Richmeier, Bobby Taggart and Alex Zuzelski will continue their playing careers at Colorado State University Pueblo, Eckerd College in Florida, and Barker University.
The 2011-2012 team again showed that not only are the Conquistadors very good golfers, but also outstanding in the classroom. The team earned a second place rating for the Academic Team-of-The Year,Tiong, and Zuzelski were named NJCAA Academic All-Americans.
2012-2013 Preview
The 2012-2013 season will have the Conquistadors again under the direction of coach Chris Robinson, Robinson in his first year as head coach took the Conquistadors to a KJCCC Conference Championship, a NJCAA Region VI Championship and a 7th place finish at the NJCAA National Championships. The 2012-2013 team will be looking for the school's seventh KJCCC. Championship. The team's nationally ranked streak will also be on the line. If the team qualifies for the NJCAA National Division I Championship it will mark the 23rd straight year the Conquistadors have competed in the tournament.
The 2012-2013 season brings many new faces as the Conquistadors will be a freshmen dominated team, with seven players having no college experience. Coach Robinson signed eight new players for the 2012-13 season, Ryan Hand, Denis Moleres, Zach Proffitt, Duane Russell, Taylor Smith, Jordan Snyder, and Trevor Torgerson, and Sophomore transfer(New Mexico Junior College) Stephen Moleres. These eight new players along with returning sophomores Parker Dolezal and Mariano Rossi will again have the Conquistadors fighting for Conference , Regional and National Championships. A schedule that finds the Conquistadors teeing it with some of the best junior college teams in the country two outstanding returning sophomores and talented freshmen,should have the Conqs searching for their 23 consecutive trip to the NJCAA National Golf Championships.
