Coach Hoberecht enters his
eighth year as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach and his
eleventh year at Dodge City Community College. The
Conquistadors are 142-79 (64%) under Coach Hoberecht and
have finished first twice, second, third and fifth in The
Jayhawk West during his seven years as head coach. Dodge
City has made four trips to the Region VI final four and
five trips to the Region VI final eight. With over 1100 wins
in the history of the program, Coach Hoberecht has built
Dodge City Men’s Basketball into one of the elite programs
in the prestigious Jayhawk Conference. The program has also
maintained an excellent academic reputation and graduated
100 percent of the two year student-athletes for the last
nine years. Sixteen former players have played on television
during the NCAA conference tournament week and seven players
have played in either the NCAA or NIT Tournament. Nine
former players now play professionally overseas or in the
CBA or NBDL. Developing players and creating opportunities
have been the cornerstone of Coach Hoberecht’s basketball
program and the success Dodge City is experiencing.
A graduate of Southwestern College in Winfield, KS, Coach
Hoberecht played four years of collegiate basketball,
earning honors as a two time Academic All-American and
winning a conference championship in 1991-92. Hoberecht
began his coaching career at Emporia State University in
Emporia, KS where he earned his master degree and worked for
NAIA Hall of Fame coach Dr Ron Slaymaker. In 1997, Coach
Hoberecht joined the DCCC staff as Mike Rohn’s assistant.
His two recruiting classes saw the Conquistadors record go
from 13-17 in the first year to 21-10 in the third year and
a national ranking of 10th during that season. The
Conquistador’s finished the year with the NJCAA fourth
longest winning streak (16 games) that season. In 2000,
Coach Hoberecht was named the 17th head coach in Dodge City
history and in his first year led the Conqs to the Region VI
final four and their best tournament appearance in over ten
years. Brian has three children, his daughter Alyx (11), his
sons Brendon (7) and Isaac (4).

Brady Trenkle enters his
fourth season as the assistant men’s basketball coach at
Dodge City Community College. His presence at Dodge City has
been felt in all areas of the program and specifically in
the recruiting. Coach Trenkle joined the men’s basketball
staff after a two year stint at the College of Eastern Utah
in Price, Utah. While at CEU, Trenkle contributed to two
successful seasons and played a pivotal role in the
recruiting of four all-region players, and eight division 1
signees. Prior to his time at CEU, Trenkle served as an
assistant coach for two seasons at Seward County CC. The
Saints were 55-12 during the two years at Seward finishing
second in the Jayhawk West in 2001 and first in the Jayhawk
West in 2002. The 2002 team lost in the Region VI finals to
see who would advance to the National Tournament.
Trenkle is a native of Twin Falls, Idaho where he played at
Twin Falls High School. He was a two-time all-state player
during high school. Coach Trenkle attended college and
played basketball at San Diego State University in San
Diego, CA. He was team captain during the 1998-99 season.
Brady earned his bachelor degree in Public Administration.
Brady is the youngest son of Nita and NJCAA Hall of Fame
coach Fred Trenkle. He is married to the former Brook Haines
of Booker, TX. They have three sons, Brodie, Brevin and
Braxon.
Coach Hoberecht on Brady Trenkle:
“Coach Trenkle made an immediate impact in
our recruiting with his work ethic and contacts. He has
great experience in our league and his knowledge of the game
benefits our player’s skill development. Coach Trenkle
understands the details associated with running a junior
college program and he does a great job of communicating
with our student-athletes.” |
