May 05, 2011
Dodge City, KS (5/4/2011) - Dodge City Community College head men’s basketball coach, Brady Trenkle has announced his initial signing class for the 2011-2012 season. The Conquistadors will have a combina-tion of new and old in this years signing class as Coach Trenkle has signed three in-state transfers to go along with current in-state and out of state seniors.
Coach Trenkle signed a pair of Kansas prep guards in Connor Carman, from Augusta, KS and Tyler Fran-cis, from Manhattan, KS. Carman, a 1st team AVCTL Division III selection, ended his prep career as the Augusta HS all time leader in 3 pointers made and attempted. Francis, a Centennial League honorable mention selection, helped lead the Manhattan Indians to a 12-8 record.
The Conquistadors went outside of the state of Kansas for the rest of their prep signees. After the success that Maryland guard Bruce Massey had for Dodge City, the Conquistadors signed two players from Mary-land. They signed James Milton III, a power forward from Parkville High School and guard Denzell Walker from McDoungh High School.
Coach Trenkle headed to Louisiana for Castor High School senior Dadrian Harris. Harris averaged 25.1 ppg and was named to the Boys Class B All-State first team.
The Conquistadors also signed three transfers from the Jayhawk Eastern Division. All three players are originally from Wichita, KS. Tony Phillips, a Wichita North graduate, last played for Cowley College dur-ing the 2004-2005 season. Phillips averaged 13.4 ppg and 7.3 rpg for the Tigers in his lone season at the Ark City school.
A pair of Coffeyville Community College transfers Aaron Wright, a Wichita Southeast graduate, and Chekiel Wright, a Wichita North graduate, will join the Conquistador basketball team next season.
