Sep 12, 2011

Garden City, KS (09/11/2011) - The Dodge City Community College men's golf team finished their first conference tournament with a win on Sunday (Sept. 11) at Buffalo Dunes in Garden City. Defending conference champion, Alex Tiong, won the tournament with two day total of 140.

Dodge City, who shot a two day total of 602 (302-300), won the tournament by six strokes over Johnson County Community College.  Defending conference champion, Hutchinson, finished third, 22 strokes behind.

Alex Tiong got off to a great start in defense of his KJCCC individual title as he finished the weekend with an even par 140. Tiong's one under 71 on Sunday was the tournament's low score of the weekend.

Two other Dodge City golfers finished in the top five.  Garden City native Loran Richmeier shot even par 72 on Sunday and finished tied for second with a 149 (77-72).  Freshman Mariano Rossi, who won the IWC Fun City Classic earlier in the week finished tied for fourth after shooting a 152 (75-77)

The Conquistadors will return to action on September 29th when they travel to Salina.  The second KJCCC tournament will take place at the Salina Municipal Golf Course.
