DC Basketball Splits On Sophomore Night

Mar 01, 2012

On Sophomore night, The DC3 basketball teams split with rival Garden City.  The Lady Conqs fell 75-36, while the men won 73-71.  For the ladies, it was the final home game for Sophomores Amanda Casey, Sharice Papaleo, and Je'nae Strong.  With DC playing hard, they took an early lead, but with 12 minutes left in the 1st half, Dodge went cold and the Lady Busters went on a 21-3 run to end the half.  Garden City continued to push in the 2nd half and DC3 (8-21, 0-15) could not find a rhythm on the offensive side of the floor.  During the men's game, both teams got up and down the floor for an exciting Jayhawk West contest.  With the Conqs leading 32-30 at the half, they used great passing and timely defense to hold off a scrappy Garden squad.  Sophomores Tyshon Pickett, Tramel White, RJ McGhee, and Tony Phillips played their final home game while fellow Sophomore Dylan Shalberg watched from the bench while recovering from a knee injury.  With the win, DC is now 19-10 overall and 7-8 in the Jayhawk.
