Malek Inducted To Golf Hall Of Fame

Mar 30, 2012

Casey Malek was elected this spring to the NJCAA Golf Hall of Fame. Coach Malek, who is now the Athletic Director, was the golf coach at Dodge City Community College for 21 years, and his teams qualified for the NJCAA National Championship every year of his tenure. He produced six NJCAA All Americans, five PING All Americans, and his golfers were the National Academic Team of the Year five times.  Coach Malek won six Region VI Championships coaching 38 All-Region golfers. He won six Kansas Junior College Conference Championships (they were among the top three teams 18 of the 21 years), watched 6 of his golfers win the Kansas individual title, and produced 61 All-KJCCC players. In 2004 and 2005, Coach Malek hosted the NJCAA National Championship at Mariah Hills Country Club in Dodge City.  He was the driving force that secured community support, prepared the golf course, organized the tournament, hosted the participants, and ran the events. From 1995 until 2003 Casey Malek was the President of the Golf Coaches Association for Division I.  He worked tirelessly over several terms to strengthen the association.   After his time as an officer, he continued to serve his colleagues in the association on various committees including the PING All-American Selection Committee, which he chaired.  We congratulate Casey, his wife Debbie, and children Andy, Sara, and Katy.
