DCCC student awarded national champion belt buckle

Dodge City Community College and Area Technical Center sophomore Luke Searcy (center) is awarded the 2011 National Versatility Ranch Horse Association Collegiate National Champion belt buckle by Danny Gillum, Vice President of Innovation & Workforce Development (left), and David McCollum, Professor of Equine Science. The NVRHA competitions consist of five classes designed to demonstrate the versatility of horse and rider. The classes are Ranch Riding, Ranch Trail, Ranch Cutting, Working Ranch Horse and Ranch Conformation. Each class is scored and awarded individually and then overall awards are given based on a cumulative score from the classes.
