The DC Baseball team had an opportunity to clinch home field advantage for the Region VI playoffs but were unable to secure it after 2 doubleheader splits over the weekend. On Saturday against Hesston College, The Conqs jumped out to a 6-0 lead in game 1 but costly mistakes led to 7 unanswered runs for Hesston and a 7-6 win. In game 2, Dodge jumped on top again, this time finishing the game and winning 11-2. On Sunday, DC scored 6 runs in the top of the 7th to win game 1 10-4 over Brown Mackie College. In game 2, Brown Mackie played well and silenced the Conq bats winning 7-2. The Conqs still have an opportunity to host the Region VI playoffs. Hesston and Brown Mackie play each other today, if the two teams split, Dodge will host. But if Brown Mackie sweeps, they would be tied with DC for 1st place.
Notes: Sophomore Infielder Corbin Crockett was carted off the field on Saturday during the 1st game and was taken to the Hospital after a collision in the baseline. Crockett has multiple fractures to the left side of his face that will require surgery but is stable and was released Sunday Morning.
