Lady Conqs Split Softball Series with Hutch

Game 1

Hutchinson Community College was never able to get over the hump and get over its troubles against Dodge City Community College on Tuesday, as Hutchinson Community College fell 3-1 at Hutchinson, KS after falling behind by three runs in the fifth inning.

Hutchinson Community College scored one run in the sixth on a groundout by Makenzi Shackley. Unfortunately, Hutchinson Community College wasn't able to take the lead back.

Amanda Best racked up three RBIs on three hits for Dodge City Community College. She tripled in the third inning, homered in the fifth inning, and singled in the seventh inning.

Jaycie Morris was a workhorse in the circle for Dodge City Community College. Morris allowed one earned run, five hits and one walk while striking out five over seven innings of work.

The game's last lead went to Dodge City Community College thanks to a third inning rally that saw one run cross the plate on an RBI triple by Best.

Hutchinson Community College managed to score one run in the sixth inning on a groundout by Shackley.

Game 2

Dodge City Community College knocked around Hutchinson Community College's Kelly Buckman to the tune of 12 hits, but failed to convert enough runners to runs, and lost 6-3 in seven innings on Tuesday at Hutchinson, KS.

Amanda Best boosted her batting average thanks to a perfect 3-3 day at the plate to pace Dodge City Community College. She singled in the first, fifth, and seventh innings.

Dodge City Community College jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Dodge City Community College's rally started when Koo Maesdoubled. A single by Best then moved Maes from second to third.

Dodge City Community College got one-run rallies in the third inning and the seventh. In the third, Dodge City Community College scored on an RBI single by Taylee Heckman, bringing home Best.

The lead stayed with Hutchinson Community College after the fourth, when it scored five runs on an RBI double by Sydney Locke and three singles.

One run in the top of the seventh helped Dodge City Community College close its deficit to 6-3. An RBI single by Best set off Dodge City Community College rally. Hutchinson Community College's Buckman induced a Danika Chavez ground out to close things out.
