Lady Conqs Softball Sweeps Cloud in First Round of Playoffs

An exceptional effort by Amanda Best lifted Dodge City Community College to a 10-8 win in seven innings over Cloud County Community College on Saturday at Dodge City, KS.

Best rocked Cloud County Community College with two home runs. Best went 3-4 in the game with five RBIs and two runs scored. Best homered in the fourth and sixth innings.

The two teams combined for 18 runs and 24 hits, including nine extra base hits.

The game was back-and-forth heading into the sixth, with seven lead changes.

Dodge City Community College finally managed to grab the lead after a strong sixth inning. Dodge City Community College scored on a two-run home run by Best off Savanna Luke, plating Ashley Stephenson.

Additional home runs for Dodge City Community College came when Taylee Heckman homered in the third inning, Rio Beck homered in the fourth inning, and Best homered in the fourth and sixth innings.

The top of the third saw Cloud County Community College take an early lead, 2-0. Cloud County Community College's threat began with a single byTavia Fazel. A groundout by Chatley Lavvorn then moved Fazel from second to third. Jessica Downard doubled, plating Fazel and Sierra Eason.

It didn't take long for Dodge City Community College to answer as it scored three runs of its own in the third. Dodge City Community College scored on a three-run home run by Heckman.

Dodge City Community College answered Cloud County Community College's top inning with five runs of its own in the fourth. Dodge City Community College scored on a two-run home run by Beck and a three-run home run by Best.

Downard's solo home run helped Cloud County Community College score three runs in the sixth.

Taylee Heckman hit three home runs to carry Dodge City Community College to an 8-5 win over Cloud County Community College at Dodge City, KS in seven innings.

The game was back-and-forth heading into the fourth, with five lead changes.

Dodge City Community College took the lead in the fourth inning and held on for the victory. A sacrifice fly by Koo Maes scored Kylie Newton and gave Dodge City Community College the lead for good.

Dodge City Community College hit four home runs in the win. Home runs for Dodge City Community College came when Brandy Huff homered in the first inning and Heckman homered in the first, third, and fifth innings.

Dodge City Community College was sparked by Heckman and Huff, who teamed up for seven hits and six RBIs.

The top of the first saw Cloud County Community College take an early lead, 4-0. Kaylee Mick doubled, bringing home Chatley LavvornKatelyn Baileyand Jessica Downard after a single by Lavvorn got things started. Cloud County Community College then tacked on more runs when Mick scored on a sacrifice fly by Kelsey Jones.

Dodge City Community College quickly matched Cloud County Community College's strong inning with a four-run inning of its own in the first. Dodge City Community College scored on a three-run home run by Heckman and a solo home run by Huff.

One Dodge City Community College baserunners came all the way around to score in each of the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth. In the third, Dodge City Community College scored on a solo home run by Heckman.

Dodge City Community College brought home one run in the fifth inning, and matched that run total in the sixth. In the fifth, Dodge City Community College scored on a solo home run by Heckman.
