Conq Football Highest Ranked in Conference

Oct 01, 2013
The Conq football team is now the highest ranked school in the KJCCC at 14th.  The latest NJCAA poll saw the Conqs jump both Butler (3-1, 4-1), who was inactive and fell to 15th, and Garden City 2-1, 4-1), who won against Fort Scott and fell to 14th.  The Conqs defeated Independence on Saturday 42-17.  The Conqs are also at the top of the KJCCC standings with a 4-1 record.  The Conqs' (5-1 overall) only loss has been to Butler, which was the first game of the season.  Since then, the Conqs have went on a 5-game winning streak.  "Our staff and players feel very fortunate to be where we are at, and we are excited to bring this kind of publicity to DC3.  It is always nice to be recognized for your accomplishments and hard work," said Head Coach Gary Thomas.  "We are currently on a well deserved bye week, but understand that we are only half way to our ultimate goal…a conference championship and a post season bowl game.  We still have plenty of work to do, and quite a few talented football teams left on our schedule."  The Conqs next home game will be on 10/12 against Coffeyville at 1pm. The Conqs finish their regular season home schedule against Garden City on 10/19 with a 7pm kickoff.
