Baseball Splits with NOC-Enid

Apr 02, 2014
DODGE CITY, Kan. – The Dodge City baseball team pounded out 22 hits and split a non-conference doubleheader with NOC-Enid Tuesday afternoon at Cavalier Field.

The Jets won the opener 12-7, but DC3 responded and attained victory in game two, 7-5.

“You never want to lose them both and we did a good job of fighting back to earn a win,” DC3 coach Phil Stephenson said. “Our offense did what I expected them to do and have been playing well all year. Our pitching and defense wasn’t what it needs to be. We had too many errors and miscues.”

In the nightcap the Conqs offense came up strong early. Parker Jones and Conner Koepp recorded back-to-back RBI doubles and DC3 led 3-2 after the first inning.

Jordan Doan and Haden Houska each recorded an RBI single in the second and third, respectfully, and DC3 led 5-2 after three complete innings.

The Jets (15-9) pushed across three runs in the top of the fourth and tied it at 5-5.
DC3 (23-13) quickly grabbed the lead back.

Doan recorded an RBI single and Koepp grounded out to second base, but was credited with an RBI, and the Conqs had a lead it wouldn’t surrender.

Chase Wilson earned the win. He tossed a complete game and allowed five hits, five runs (four earned) and one walk and struck out nine batters.

In the series opener the Jets opened up a 6-0 lead and the Conqs couldn’t muster enough offense to come back.

Jorden Fields went 1 for 3 with 3 RBIs and Doan finished 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs.

Spencer Bedwell was tagged with the loss. He tossed 2 1/3 innings and allowed five hits, eight runs (seven earned) and three walks and struck out three batters.
