Seven members of the 2012-13 DC3 Baseball team have signed to continue their baseball careers at the next level. This group led the Conqs to a 32-23 record this past season and as well as a 3rd place finish in the Jayhawk West Conference. Below is information on each individual.
Ross Vance- LHP
West Virginia University- Big 12 Conference (NCAA DI)
The 1st team all-conference, 2nd team all-region pitcher led the DC staff in wins, innings pitched, strike outs and complete games. Vance signed with WVU in the early signing period and solidified himself as one of the top pitchers in the KJCCC. The Mountaineers finished 33-26 overall and tied for 3rd in the Big 12 Conference.
Jarren Donato- 2nd Base
Coker College- South Atlantic Conference (NCAA DII)
Donato was a 2 year starter for the Conqs and a staple in the middle of the infield. He will continue his career at Coker College in Hartsville, SC. Donato was 4th on the team with 50 hits and 2nd on the team with 33 runs scored. Coker just finished up one of their best seasons in school history with a 38-16 record and their 1st ever trip to the NCAA DII World Series.
Connor Ross- OF
Fort Hays State University- Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletic Assoc. (NCAA DII)
Ross started 103 games in his career and led the Conqs in runs scored (34) and stolen bases (9) his sophomore year. He will move on to FHSU in Hays, KS, FHSU finished 23-22 overall and 19-19 in the MIAA, one of the toughest DII conferences in the nation.
Travis Leverett- RHP
Southwest Oklahoma State University- Great American Conference (NCAA DII)
The Sublette, KS native was a key member of the DC3 pitching staff. Leverett, a submarine style pitcher, was 3rd on the team in appearances (13) and had a 3.18 ERA. For his career, Leverett appeared in 41 games for DC3. SWOSU finished 2nd in the GAC and finished the season with a 31-16 record.
Chris Ramsey- OF
Colorado State University-Pueblo- Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (NCAA DII)
Ramsey roamed CF for the past 2 seasons and was known for his defensive skills around the conference. He was named Honorable Mention All-Conference, ranked 2nd on the team in RBI’s (28) and led the team in sacrifice bunts (9). Ramsey started 104 games in his career as a Conq. CSU-Pueblo is coming off 32-22 season while going 24-14 in conference.
Shay Lynes- UTIL
Metro State University- Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (NCAA DII)
Lynes transferred this past year to DC3 and led the team in homeruns (5), RBI’s (30) and doubles (10). He will transfer to Metro St in Denver, CO. Metro finished 20-27 overall and 16-20 in the RMAC this past season.
Oklahoma Panhandle St. University- Heartland Conference (NCAA DII)
Rainwater started 19 games in his 2 year stint with DC. He was named 1st team all-region DII his freshman year for the Conqs and only walked 9 batters in 43 innings pitched this past season. He will continue on and pitch for the Aggies of OPSU, located in Goodwell, OK.
