Conqs Slip Up, Fall to Garden

The Conq football team's winning streak of 6 games came to a halt on Saturday night losing to the Broncbusters of Garden City, 41-22.  The Conqs struggled offensively with 5 turnovers and were down 14-0 before Tyreis Thomas scored on a short run in the second quarter.  The Busters scored twice more before Devonte Robinson scored on a short pass from Deondre Ford with 30 seconds left in the half to make the score 28-14.  Garden City recovered a fumble late in the third quarter to put Conqs down 34-14.  They scored once more in the fourth quarter before the Conqs scored on a short run by Keymonne Gabriel with 4:50 left in the game.  Deondre Ford was 13-42 for 184 yards with 3 interceptions and 1 touchdown.  Tyreis Thomas had 23 rushes for 118 yards with one touchdown.  Michael Thomas had 7 catches for 144 yards.  Ted Taylor led the Conqs with 6 tackles.  The Conqs will take a week off before Region VI Playoffs begin as they will not be traveling to Air Force Prep.
