Basketball Splits Against Neosho

The Conq women's and men's basketball teams closed out 2013 with games against Neosho County on Friday. The women pulled out an 85-84 victory behind Kelli Tolar's 5 for 9 3-point shooting. Tolar led the team in points with 26. Kesha Buckner led rebounds with 14 and Azaria Nave led assists with 7. The women end 2013 with a 12-3 record. The Conq men's game was very physical with 64 fouls called, including technical fouls on both sides. Neosho pulled out the 114-103 victory after shooting 63 free throws. Larry Beckett was the team leader in both points and rebounds with 24 points and 14 rebounds. Brett O'Neil and O'Shai Clark both had team-leading 5 assists. With the loss, the men are 11-4 on the year. Both Conq teams will play Northwest Kansas Tech next year on 1/8 in Goodland. Conference play will begin on 1/11 at home against Cloud County.
