 Women's Golf Season Outlook

2013-2014 Season Outlook

2013 ended with three members of the women’s golf team qualifying for the national tournament In Mesa Arizona. The three who qualified for the tournament were Annie Sheridan, Shanell Hensley and Lakin Ubert. The tournament was played at a new location and golf course, Longbow Golf Course.

To get to the tournament the Lady Conqs had to first beat Barton for the Conference title. However, the lady Conqs finished second to our rival. The year before 2012 the lady Conqs defeated Barton for the title. We seem to go back and forth. 2013 we sent only three repsentives to the national tournament Lakin, Annie and Shanell.  Annie finished 43rd, Lakin, 52nd and Shanell 50th. This was the first time for all three to attend a huge tournament. Lakin and Shanell have moved on to separate journeys, Shanell is now attending Northwest Oklahoma University, Lakin is back home in Wichita, and Annie is finishing up her sophomore season as a Lady Conq.

The 2013-2014 teams have four new players in addition to sophomores Annie Sheridan, and Lina Baquero who did not qualify for last year’s National Tournament. The 2013-14 team will bring their talents to a program which is rich with a winning tradition and success, not only on the course but in the classroom. Barton Community College won last year’s conference championship, but this year the Lady Conqs is determined to bring the title back to DCCC and make a good showing in May and reach the program’s goal of winning the elusive National Championship.
