Academic Excellence / Quiz Bowl
Quiz Bowl, officially known as the Academic Excellence Competition, is a trivia-type competition in which, in each round, two teams go head-to-head in a great battle of wits. A round consists of 24 toss-up questions. The team to correctly answer the toss-up question first by buzzing in earns 10 points and the opportunity to score more points (up to 30) on a bonus question.
We compete with many of the community colleges across the state and even nationally through NAQT (http://naqt.com/ ). The types of questions provided by NAQT cover every major academic topic (such as science, geography, literature, etc) and even some not-so-academic topics (such as current events, sports, and pop culture).
Quiz Bowl is a great opportunity to get involved at Dodge City Community College. It is a great way to make new friends (or make your old friends new by doing something different with them) and to expand the breadth and depth of your knowledge while finding a way to actually use all that information from philosophy class (no offense to all the philosophy majors out there).
Scholarships are available. You can also receive college credit in the Spring semester for participating in Quiz Bowl. It is also great for resumes and applications.
