Sophomore Middle Hitter, Victoria Cross signed her letter of intent today to further her education and playing career. She was offered a full scholarship at Jacksonville State, an NCAA division 1 college competing in the Ohio Valley Conference. Jacksonville State finished fourth in the conference and Victoria is looking to help the team as a Middle/Right side hitter.
Victoria came from Monument Colorado and in her sophomore year at DC3 had achieved some major accomplishments. First team all Jayhawk conference was one of them. She was second on the team in kills with 308, and first in blocks with 87 and that number was good enough to rank her as the best blocker in the country. She finished her career hitting .410, which ranks first on the team and 4th in the Nation in hitting percentage.
Victoria is the second Conquistador volleyball player this year signing with an NCAA division 1 College. Alyse Barclay signed with Nicholls State in Louisiana and the Southland Conference earlier this year.
“We wish Victoria the best, and I am confident that she will have a great career. Her dedication and hard work on and off the court is an example of what a student athlete is all about. She came into our program and she fit in like it was meant for her. Although we changed her position on the floor, she adapted extremely well and the results were tremendous. We will miss her!”
