Thomas Comes Up Big for Conqs

The Conq football team played catch up on Saturday behind powerhouse Tyreis Thomas to pick up the win against the Coffeyville Red Ravens. The game started out quiet with neither team scoring in the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Red Ravens got hot while the Conqs struggled to get their offense going. The Red Ravens were up 14-0 before Devonte Robinson caught a 32 yard touchdown pass from Cole Sjeklocha at 3:06. Coffeyville answered, scoring with :06 left in the half to go up 17-6. The Red Ravens scored first in the second half with a 25 yard field goal at 10:36 to go up 20-6. Fourteen seconds later Darvell Harris ran 90 yards to return the kick off for a touchdown. Coffeyville scored late in the third quarter to make the score 27-12 before Tyreis Thomas scored on a 13 yard run at 1:51. The third quarter ended with Coffeyville up, 27-18. The fourth quarter saw Thomas strike twice with an 8 yard run at 11:45 and a 4 yard run at 6:19 to put the Conqs in their first lead of the game. The defense put the stop on the Red Ravens to give the Conqs the 32-27 win. Once again, the Conqs struggled with PATs, going 1-5. In passing, Deondre Ford was 16-30 with 159 yards and Cole Sjeklocha was 2-3 with 77 yards and 1 touchdown. In rushing, Tyreis Thomas had 18 runs for 134 yards and 3 touchdowns. In receiving, Michael Thomas had 4 catches for 73 yards and Devonte Robinson had 4 catches for 68 yards and 1 touchdown. Darvell Harris had 4 kick off returns for 112 yards and 1 touchdown. Defensively, Josh Williams led the Conqs with 10 tackles. Logan Orso had 9 tackles, with 2 solo sacks and one assisted sack (with Terrell Clinkscales). The Conqs will play their last home game of the regular season on Saturday at 7pm against the Garden City Broncbusters.
