SALINA, Kan. – The Dodge City men’s golf team dominated the Jayhawk Tournament No. 4 Monday at Salina Municipal Golf Course.
As a team the Conquistadors shot a tournament-low 272 and finished eight below par.
The Conqs finished 11 strokes ahead of Hutchinson.
Individually, DC3 placed three golfers in the top three.
Zach Kirby carded a 65 and finished five shots below par to claim first place. Hugh Campbell earned runner-up honors with a 67 and finished three shots below par.
“This is the fourth conference win and we’ve won each conference tournament so far. It’s a good feeling to know that we are first in conference,” DC3 coach Chris Robinson said.” The kids played really well. We got a little bit of a lead and used that as momentum.”
Not to be outdone by his teammates, Trevor Torgerson finished the day with a 69 and was even par to finish third.
Ryan Hand completed the day with a 71 and was one shot above par to finish ninth.
Jack Rickabuagh shot a 74 (+4) and finished 21st, while Zach Norton carded a 77 (+7) to finish 33rd.
The Conqs take a week off before competing at Jayhawk Tournament No.5 at Rolling Meadows Golf Course in Milford.
“We are starting to play really well,” added Johnson. “We should be playing our best golf before we play in the Jayhawk Conference Tournament in late April.”
