Scholarship and Grant Categories
Purpose: The purpose of the Faculty Scholarship is to encourage students to pursue post-secondary education at Dodge City Community College. Scholarship funds are limited.
Requirements: The applicant must be enrolled in a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours each semester. Scholarship funds are designated for all major academic fields.
Scholarship Level I: This scholarship will pay In-State Equivalent Tuition and Loan of Books each semester. The applicant must have a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale OR the applicant must have an ACT composite score of 25 or higher OR the applicant must have a cumulative post-secondary grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale based on at least twelve (12) semester hours OR the applicant must have an aggregate standard score of 2800 or higher on the GED Test.
Scholarship Level II: This scholarship will pay In-State Equivalent Tuition each semester. The applicant must have a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale OR the applicant must have an ACT composite score of 20 or higher OR the applicant must have a cumulative post-secondary grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale based on at least twelve (12) semester hours OR the applicant must have an aggregate standard score of 2650 or higher on the GED Test.
Scholarship Level III: This scholarship will pay Loan of Books each semester. The applicant must have a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale OR the applicant must have an ACT composite score of 17 or higher OR the applicant must have a cumulative post-secondary grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale based on at least twelve (12) semester hours OR the applicant must have an aggregate standard score of 2400 or higher on the GED Test.
Renewal: This scholarship is renewable if the student maintains the appropriate cumulative grade point average as specified for each level shown above and maintains satisfactory academic progress.
Purpose: The purpose of the Performing Arts Grant is to encourage students to pursue post-secondary education and to participate in Band, Orchestra, Vocal Music, Drama or Art at Dodge City Community College. Grant funds are limited.
Requirements: The applicant must be enrolled in a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours each semester. Grants will be based on auditions or recommendations from fine arts instructors. Recipients will be expected to maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, participate in designated activities required by the performing arts director, and enroll in specified performing arts courses.
Award: This grant will pay up to In-State Equivalent Tuition and Loan of Books each semester.
Performing Arts Activities: Band, Orchestra, Vocal Music, Drama and Art.
Renewal: This grant is renewable if the student maintains a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, fulfills all of the requirements of his or her performing arts director, and maintains satisfactory academic progress.
Purpose: The purpose of the Activity Grant is to encourage students to pursue post-secondary education and to participate in activities at Dodge City Community College. Grant funds are limited.
Requirements: The applicant must be enrolled in a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours each semester. Grants will be based on demonstrated skills or interests in college activities. Recipients will be expected to maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and fulfill the requirements of their activity director.
Award: This grant will pay up to In-State Equivalent Tuition and Loan of Books each semester.
Activities: Activities include but are not necessarily limited to the following examples: Art Club officers, Black Student College Association officers, Block and Bridle Club officers, Cheerleaders, Conquistador Newspaper Staff, Dance Team, Dodge City Community College Nursing Student Association officers, Hispanic American Leadership Organization officers, Livestock Judging Team, Officiating, Quiz Bowl Team, Radio/Television, Rodeo Team, Soils Judging Team, Student Athletic Assistant, Student Government Association officers, and Vocational Clubs of America (VICA) officers. Clubs and other student organizations must be approved by the Student Government Association to qualify for this grant.
Renewal: This grant is renewable if the student maintains a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, fulfills all of the requirements of their activity director, and maintains satisfactory academic progress.
Purpose: The purpose of the Technical Grant is to encourage students to pursue post-secondary technical education at Dodge City Community College. Grant funds are limited.
Requirements: The applicant must be enrolled in a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours each semester. Grants will be based on demonstrated skills or interests in college technical programs. Recipients will be expected to maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
Award: This grant will pay up to In-State Equivalent Tuition and Loan of Books for the first semester.
Programs: Administrative Assistant Technology, Agribusiness, Agricultural Chemicals Technology, Automotive Technology, Banking and Finance, Building Trades, Computer Information Systems, Cosmetology, Criminal Justice, Diesel Technology, Early childhood Development, Electronics Technology, Equine Studies, Farm and Ranch Management, Fire Science, Floral Design, Gerontology, Grain Science-Milling, Science-Feed Technology, Livestock and Feedlot Industry, Manufacturing Technology, Mass Communications, Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse, Water Resources Management.
Renewal: This grant is renewable if the student maintains a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and maintains satisfactory academic progress.
Purpose: The purpose of the Part Time Scholarship is to provide funding to students who enroll less than Full Time in order to pursue post-secondary education at Dodge City Community College. Students who do not qualify for other scholarships are encouraged to apply for this award. Scholarship funds are limited.
Requirements: The applicant must be enrolled in and complete classes required for an associate degree. Scholarship funds are designated for all major academic fields.
Award: This scholarship will pay up to In-State Equivalent Tuition and Loan of Books for an applicant with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale OR an aggregate standard score of 2800 or higher on the GED Test. An applicant with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale OR an aggregate standard score of 2650 or higher on the GED Test may receive In-State Equivalent Tuition only. An applicant with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale OR an aggregate standard score of 2400 or higher on the GED Test may receive Loan of Books only.
Renewal: This scholarship is renewable if the student maintains the appropriate cumulative grade point average as specified in the initial award and maintains satisfactory academic progress.
Purpose: The purpose of the Part Time Grant is to provide funding to non-traditional students and Ford County high school students who enroll less than Full Time in order to pursue post-secondary education at Dodge City Community College. Students who do not qualify for other scholarships/grants are encouraged to apply for this grant. Grant funds are limited.
Requirements: The applicant must be enrolled in and complete classes required for a degree or certificate.
Award: This grant will pay up to In-State Equivalent Tuition and Loan of Books each semester.
Renewal: This grant is renewable if the student maintains satisfactory academic progress as published in the DCCC Calendar/Handbook, the 2001-2003 DCCC Catalog, and in the Financial Aid Office.
HISPANIC SERVING INSTITUTIONAL GRANT
Purpose: The purpose of the Hispanic Serving Institutional Grant is to encourage
students of Hispanic ethnicity to pursue post-secondary education at Dodge City
Community College. Grant funds are limited.
Requirements: The applicant must specify Hispanic ethnicity on the Dodge City
Community College Application for Admissions. The applicant must have a
cumulative high school grade point average of 2.0 or higher OR an ACT composite
score of 15 or higher OR a cumulative post-secondary grade point average of 2.0
or higher based on at least twelve (12) semester hours OR an aggregate standard
score of 2250 or higher on the GED Test.
Award: This grant will pay In-State Equivalent Tuition and Loan of Books for one
semester.
Renewal: This grant is awarded for one semester only. Students may have their award renewed as another institutional scholarship/grant based on academic performance, participation in an activity if appropriate, and satisfactory academic progress. Other institutional scholarship/grants include the Faculty Scholarship, Performing Arts Grant, Activity Grant, Technical Grant, Part Time Scholarship, or Part Time Grant.
Purpose: The purpose of the Minority Incentive Grant is to encourage students of
a minority ethnic status to pursue post-secondary education at Dodge City
Community College. Grant funds are limited.
Requirements: The applicant must specify a minority ethnic status on the Dodge
City Community College Application for Admissions. The applicant must have a
cumulative high school grade point average of 2.0 or higher OR an ACT composite
score of 15 or higher OR a cumulative post-secondary grade point average of 2.0
or higher based on at least twelve (12) semester hours OR an aggregate standard
score of 2250 or higher on the GED Test.
Award: This grant will pay In-State Equivalent Tuition and Loan of Books for one
semester.
Renewal: This grant is awarded for one semester only. Students may have their award renewed as another institutional scholarship/grant based on academic performance, participation in an activity if appropriate, and satisfactory academic progress. Other institutional scholarship/grants include the Faculty Scholarship, Performing Arts Grant, Activity Grant, Technical Grant, Part Time Scholarship, or Part Time Grant.
Purpose: The purpose of the Senior Citizen Grant is to provide funding to senior citizens for life-long learning experiences at Dodge City Community College.
Requirements: Senior citizens must be 62 years of age or older and living in the counties of the Dodge City Community College service area: Clark, Comanche, Edwards, Ford, Gray, Hodgeman, Kiowa, Meade, and Ness.
Award: This grant will pay Tuition for seminars, workshops, and classes. This grant does not cover books, supplies, fees, meals, and other expenses.
Renewal: This grant may be renewed from semester to semester.
Purpose: The purpose of the Athletic Grant is to encourage athletes to pursue post-secondary education at Dodge City Community College. Grants are limited. It is important to contact the appropriate coach as soon as possible. Athletic Grants are available for men: baseball, basketball, cross-country, football, golf, soccer, and track and field. Athletic Grants are available for women: basketball, cross-country, golf, soccer, softball, track and field, and volleyball. No federal, state, county, or other public funds will be utilized to fund athletic grants.
Residency: Residents of states other than Kansas will have their athletic grants funded by the Dodge City Community College Alumni-Booster Association.
Requirements: Recipients must be enrolled in and complete at least twelve (12) credit hours each semester.
Athletic Grant: An athlete may receive up to Tuition and the Loan of Books as an athletic grant.
How to Apply: Grants will be recommended by the appropriate coach and approved by the Athletic Director and the President.
Renewal: Renewal will be based on the athlete's ability to maintain the requirements of the Jayhawk Community College Conference, the National Junior College Athletic Association, acceptable level of participation in the appropriate sport, satisfactory academic progress, and availability of funds. The appropriate coach and Athletic Director will determine renewal eligibility at the end of each semester.
Award: Scholarships are available to athletes who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Jayhawk Community College Conference rules limit the amount of this scholarship to $500 each semester.
How to Apply: After a student has signed a National Athletic Letter of Intent, application may be made utilizing the Dodge City Community College Scholarship Application Form.
Renewal: An athlete may be eligible to renew this scholarship; however, a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale must be maintained each semester. Renewal eligibility will be determined by the Athletic Director and monitored by the Office of Student Financial Assistance at the end of each semester.
Purpose: The purpose of the Endowment Scholarship is to stimulate interest in post-secondary education at Dodge City Community College and to assist students who have attained high academic achievement. The primary focus of this scholarship will be upon entering freshman students. Scholarship funds are limited. The Dodge City Community College Endowment Association, a non-profit organization, funds scholarships through volunteer efforts that are dedicated to supporting academic excellence at Dodge City Community College.
Requirements: Recipients must be enrolled in at least six (6) semester hours each semester and maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Award: This scholarship will pay up to $800 each semester. The applicant must rank in the upper 25% of his/her high school graduating class OR the applicant must have a cumulative post-secondary grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale based on at least ten (10) semester hours OR the applicant must have an aggregate standard score of at least 2850 on the GED Test.
Renewal: This scholarship is renewable if the student maintains a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, participates in specified activities, and maintains satisfactory academic progress.
Purpose: The purpose of Endowed Scholarships/Grants are to stimulate interest in post-secondary education at Dodge City Community College and to assist students who have maintained high academic achievement. The primary focus of these scholarships/grants will be upon entering freshman students. Scholarship funds are limited. The Dodge City Community College Endowment Association funds scholarships/grants through volunteer efforts. This non-profit organization is dedicated to supporting academic excellence at Dodge City Community College.
