Conqs Alter the Record Books

Posted November 10, 2011

Conquistador football just completed one of the best seasons that they’ve had in a long time.  They defeated Garden City for the first time since 1986.  They made the Region VI Playoffs for the first time since 2005.  That determination continued as the 2011 Conquistadors altered the Dodge City Community College All-Time Records.  Sophomore quarterback Bryan Parnes broke the single game record for Most Passes Attempted at 56 against Butler.  The old record of 51 was set by JR LaBarge against Fort Scott in 2001 and tied by Omar Haugabook against Butler in 2005.  Parnes shattered Haugabook’s season record of 330 (2004) with his 436 passes attempted.  He also broke records in Most Passes Completed in a single game (31 against Air Force Prep) and in a season (234).  This broke Haugabook’s 2005 single game record against Butler (30) and his 2005 season record of 176.  Parnes tied the record for Most Touchdown Passes in a game at 3, against Highland.  This record was set by Walter Washington against Hutchinson in 2002.  Haugabook tied the record twice in 2005 against Hutchinson (once in the Playoffs).  Sophomore wide receiver Logan Stephens set the season record in Most Passes Caught at 77, which was previously held by Gerald Tate at 69 (2005).  He also set the record for Most Passes Caught Per Game in a season at 7.7 (77 catches/10 games) and in a career at 7.7 (77 catches/10 games).  Jeron Harvey previously held both records at 5.77 (52 catches/9 games) in 2004.  Stephens also broke the record for Most Yards Gained in a Game with 258 against Garden City and in a Season with 977.  The previous records were set by DeMario Hamilton (191 yards against Highland on 9/18/04) and Jeron Harvey (956 yards in 2004).  Sophomore transfer defensive back Chris Lipscomb broke the record for the Most Tackles in a season at 135, set by E.J. Kuale in 2003 at 124.  Sophomore linebacker Bradley Halblieb broke the record for Most Tackles in a career with 176.  The record previously belonged to Nate Harris (2003-2004) and Jared Loomis (2008-20090 at 167.  The Offense as a team broke a few records also.  In the Single Game setting, they set the record for total plays at 104 against Butler.  That beats the 85 plays in the game against Highland on 8/15/05.  They tied the number of First Downs with 33 against Highland (the record was also set against Highland on 9/18/04.  The Most Passes Attempted (70) and Completed (33) was set against Butler.  The Offense set a season record for Passing Attempts (489), Completed (262) and Yards (2699).  These records were previously set in 1996 (415 Attempts) and 2004 (176 Completions and 2647 Yards).
