Board of Trustees Meetings

Regular monthly meetings of the Board of Trustees are held in the Ford County Room located in the Student Center unless an alternate location is designated. Employees of the College and the public are welcome to attend meetings. Schedules of meetings and agendas are posted throughout campus, and are also available in the President's Office.

Minutes for the Board of Trustees meetings are on file and available in the President's Office and in the Learning Resource Center.

For more information on the Board of Trustees refer to Section 200 of the Board Policy Manual. (back to top)

College Working Hours

The College has established the hours between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, as the "standard" 40-hour work week. All offices will be staffed during this time.

The employee is expected to notify his/her immediate supervisor in a timely manner of any situation which prevents or delays prompt arrival for work. Unauthorized absence may result in disciplinary action.

All employees are expected to commence work at the scheduled time and to continue working throughout the allotted period of hours. Changes in work schedules must be approved in advance through the appropriate supervisor.

The College has the right to make and/or change work assignments, to establish and modify job classifications, and to establish and amend work rules and work loads. All full-time hourly employees of the College are expected to work a regular 40-hour week unless otherwise directed. Contracted employees are expected to complete the duties and obligations of their position; which may necessitate exceeding 40 hours a week. (back to top)

Breaks and Lunch Hours

Dodge City Community College does not have officially scheduled breaks. Two 15-minute breaks may be authorized each day by the supervisor. This is a privilege that should not be abused by extending the periods beyond 15 minutes. The normal lunch period is one hour in length. This time is scheduled by the supervisor and coordinated with work schedules of other employees. (back to top)

Overtime Pay and Compensatory Time for Full-time Classified Employees

The President, or designee, must authorize all overtime worked in advance. Several days in advance of the overtime being incurred, requests for approval of overtime should be submitted, in writing or e-mail, to the President of the College. If the overtime can not be anticipated, the Supervisor should obtain telephone approval from the President or his designee.

Whenever possible, compensatory time should be utilized in lieu of paying overtime. The employee must agree to accept compensatory time in advance of working overtime. Supervisors cannot force or in any way coerce employees to accept compensatory time in lieu of overtime pay. The Supervisor can, however, refuse to grant permission for the employee to work overtime if the employee will not accept compensatory time. Overtime and compensatory time is earned at 1.5 hours for each hour of overtime worked.

Employees who terminate employment will be eligible to receive payment for earned un-used compensatory time.

Overtime and compensatory time must be recorded on the employee's time sheet and a Absence/Travel Expense Report form, approved by the supervisor, must be attached to the time sheet when earned compensatory time is used. (back to top)

Overtime and Compensatory Time for Part-Time Classified Employees:

Requests for part-time employees to work overtime is discouraged. However, if necessary and if approved by the President in advance, provisions for granting overtime pay and compensatory time to part-time employees are the same as for full-time employees. (back to top)
