Board
of Trustees
The Board of Trustees is the governing body of the
College. The six members of the Board serve four year terms which are staggered to allow
for the election of three new members every two years. Terms begin July 1, and end June
30. Regular meetings of the Board of Trustees are held on a monthly basis and are listed
on the College calendar, in the "Conq Quotes" and in "Clips". The
Board of Trustees welcomes all DCCC faculty, staff and the public to attend meetings.
Minutes are available in the President's Office and in the Library. A video of the Board
meetings is aired on the College television channel several times following the Board
meeting and is also available in the Library the day following each meeting.

EMPLOYMENT CATEGORIES
Faculty
The Board of Trustees and the Faculty Association, which
serve as representatives of the full-time professional employees recognize and are bound
by professional negotiation provisions pursuant to K.S.A. 72-5413 et seq.
Faculty contracts are distributed to all full-time
faculty following completion of Board/Faculty negotiations. The negotiated agreement is a
part of the professional employee contract and is available from the Faculty Association
President or the Dean of Instruction.
Non-renewal of Contracts
Written notice to terminate a contract may be served by
the Board to any faculty member prior to completion of the contract and written notice to
non-renew a contract may be served to any faculty member on or before May 1. A faculty
member shall give written notice to the Board of their intention not to renew their
contract on or before May 15. Refer to Board Policy 803.1.
Full-time Faculty
Refers to a professional employee who has been contracted
by the Board for a minimum of 177 working days, a full work day or full-time teaching
assignment with a minimum of 177 contract days. Refer to Board Policy 802.1.
Part-time Faculty
Refers to those professional employees employed in a
part-time instructional capacity. Refer to Board Policy 802.2.

Administrative/Program-Technical Personnel
Full-time Administrative and Program/Technical personnel
of the College shall be employed by the Board of Trustees upon recommendation of the
President. Said personnel are employed by the Board of Trustees strictly at its pleasure,
subject to dismissal at any time with or without cause, except as provided by specific
contract terms and applicable laws.
Part-time Administrative and Program/Technical personnel
of the College are employed on an as needed basis by the President, said authority
delegated to the President by the Board of Trustees. Refer to Board Policy 803.2.
Administrative Personnel (Full-time)
Administrative personnel are hired by the Board in a
position as President, Dean, Chief Fiscal Officer, Associate Dean, Assistant Dean, or
other title defined by the President as being a member of the College's administrative
structure. Refer to Board Policy 802.1.
Administrative Personnel (Part-time)
Refers to a member of the administrative staff who has
been appointed part-time by the President of the College in an administrative staff
position. Part-time administrators work on the basis determined and specified at the time
of hiring. Refer to Board Policy 802.2.
Program/Technical Personnel (Full-time)
Program Technical personnel are members of program
management and/or technical support staff who have been appointed by the Board in a
position as Director, Associate Director, Assistant Director, Controller, Aide, Program
Manager, Manager, Specialist, Advisor, Counselor, Coordinator, Assistant Coordinator, or
other title defined by the President as being a member of the College' s program
management and/or technical support structure. Refer to Board Policy 802.1.
Program/Technical Personnel (Part-time)
Refers to a member of the program/technical staff
appointed by the President of the College in a program management and/or technical support
position e.g., Director, Controller, Manager, Graphic Specialist, Advisor, Consultant,
Counselor, Coordinator. Part-time program/technical personnel work on the basis determined
and specified at the time of hiring. Refer to Board Policy 802.2.

Classified
Staff
Employment at Will
Kansas is an "Employment-At-Will" State. Hourly
employees (full-time and part-time) are employed "at will. That is, employment
is terminable at the option of either the employer or the employee at any time. No one has
the authority to change this.
Classified Staff
Persons working at Dodge City Community College who
perform secretarial/clerical, data processing, physical plant, security, technical and
service-type functions and who are non-exempt employees paid on an hourly rate are known
as classified staff. For hourly classified staff personnel, the work week starts at 12:01
a.m. Sunday and ends at 12:00 midnight Saturday.
Any person employed in the category of classified staff
will not be issued a contract. Personnel in these positions will be considered as
non-exempt employees as prescribed under the Wage and Hour Law provisions. Refer to
Board Policy 803.3.
Hourly Classified Employees (Full-time)
Refers to non-contracted personnel including employees
who work in offices, physical facilities, sales and other areas and are hired on the basis
of a 40 hour work week. Refer to Board Policy 802.1.
Hourly Classified Employees (Part-time)
Refers to non-contracted personnel including employees
who work in offices, physical facilities, sales, or other areas and are hired on the basis
of less than a 40 hour work week. Refer to Board Policy 802.2.
