Operation Green Projects: America Recycles Day is on Nov . 15th. Deb Roda, CREW/Keep Dodge Beautiful, offered to help and supply t-shirts if we want to sponsor an event near that date. Decided on Thursday Nov 20th for our DC3 Recycles Day & plan to:
· give out t-shirts to people bringing in their items to recycle
· hand out information about what can be recycled and locations to do so
· clean up DC3’s south fence, the prairie dog town north of it and around Lake Charles
· promote our recycling containers coming soon
Jennifer will contact Deb Roda about the shirts and our plans.
SGA report from Van: Monday Nov.3rd they will clean up the highway on the north edge of compus starting right after their meeting in the Student Union, probably about 4:30, and have pizza after they finish. Kappa Psi members are welcome to join in the fun & food.
OFFICERS for 08- 09. We have: President: Brittni Conrardy; VP Leadership: Seth Salmans; VP Scholarship Deserae Hardy, VP Service: Brian Meyers; Historian: Theresa Hardin, and Student Gov. Recruiting New Members: We have 16 new Active members, 2 Provisional members, and a transferring membership in progress. Brittni made some phone calls but didn’t have much luck as most were not planning to transfer or were older people or didn’t want to spend the money now. We have surpassed our Pinnacle goal of 33 new active members in 2008. That gets us 1 free International Convention registration worth over $200.
Induction: Nov. 2nd Student Union Board Room Set up workers come at 2:00 to put out the cookies and make punch. All involved in the ceremony arrive by 2:15 for short rehearsal. Guests arrive about 2:45 as the ceremony begins @3:00. Officers have part of script to read – so Fran will e-mail them the script. Dress up for it as photos will be taken. We should finish and be cleaned up by 4:30.
Fundraisers: The purpose is to pay for members trips to conventions. Fran described the fun we have at Regional and International Conventions. It’s close enough to drive there this year – Dallas area.
Gourmet Lollypops –Still have 1,300+ to sell. Easy to sell by yourself and group sell at DCCC events. Brittni said she had sold part of hers this week. Deserae checked out a bag to start selling. We need to get more members involved in selling them and permission to sell them at the events.
Honors Study Topic Project: Still need to come up with one.
All-USA: Everyone encouraged to do it for the honor of being selected and the stipend.
Project Graduation: This is our annual Spring semester Campus Project “Feed a Body/Feed a Mind” to collect non-perishable food and children’s books. Fran described how it works.
A Bookcase For Every Child: Decided to do a Children’s Book Drive before Christmas and find out more about this local group that builds tiny bookcases and puts some books in it.
Next Meetings on 1st & 3rd Thursdays @ 4:00 Fine Arts 220: Nov. 6, 20 Dec. 4 & maybe Dec. 18 (finals week) end of semester party.
Honors @ Rock Spring Ranch: Jennifer said Brian may not be able to go after all because of a concert schedule conflict. Registration is already sent. Need to find a substitute if he can’t go. Leave next Friday at 11:00 a.m. in a school car. Students need to bring bedding, warm clothes and a good flashlight for tromping through the woods at night.
