Head Soccer Coach

Tim Romanello

► 4th year as Head Soccer Coach

Hometown: North Prairie, WI

High School:Kettle Moraine High School

► College: Lakeland College

Coach Tim Romanello enters his first season as the head coach of the entire Conquistador soccer program. Romanello had served as the head men’s soccer coach at Dodge City Community College for the previous three years.

This past season, Romanello led a relatively young squad and men’s program. Not only did the men set a school record for wins in a season (10), but they qualified for the Region VI Tournament for the first time in Romanello’s tenure and were Nationally Ranked for the first time in program history (Week of September 28, 2010).

“Winning should never be accidental,” says Romanello. “In any city or program, to win, you need a collection of the right attitude, clearly defined goals and talent. Dodge [City] is no different, and it rarely happens [to get all three] in the first year. It’s a work in progress, and as much of a challenge as it has been, it’s been extremely exciting. This is where I want to be.”

The men saw considerable improvements from 2008 to 2009 and the national recognition in 2010 is clear indication the program is headed in the right direction. But entering 2011, Romanello has the tall task of turning around a women’s program that has just three wins over a three-year period.

Romanello joined the Conquistador’s men’s program after five seasons as a head coach in Wisconsin, having lead high school and collegiate teams alike to successful seasons. The North Prairie (Wisc.) native previously was the Men and Women’s Assistant at his Alma Matter (Lakeland College) in 2003 and 2004 and was the Girl’s Varsity Goalkeepers Coach for Sheboygan South High School in the spring of 2001.

A 2008 graduate of Lakeland College (Sheboygan, Wisc.), Romanello assumed his first head coaching job at the age of 22, leading the Sheboygan Area Lutheran High Girl’s Varsity squad to the most wins (10) in its nine year history, while accumulating the school’s longest unbeaten streak (8). The following fall, Romanllo took direction of the Boy’s Varsity squad and re-established the Crusaders as a consistent soccer threat.

In 2007, Romanello returned to the collegiate coaching ranks, this time as a head coach at the University of Wisconsin—Sheboygan.

Romanello was a three-year starting defender at Lakeland College, captaining the Muskies for all three years, and made a Division III World Series appearance for Lakeland’s baseball team in 2002. Romanello was a two-time All-Conference, Classic 8 goalkeeper for the Lasers of Kettle Moraine High School (Wales, Wisc.). Romanello holds a NSCAA National Diploma in Team, Special Topics and Goalkeeping Institute.

His wife, Annie, is currently the Assistant Softball Coach. They have a son, Taylor James, who was born on 12/13/11.  They currently reside in Dodge City, Kansas.
