Season Preview

The Lady Conquistadors are coming into this season with a new look as Coach Stephano Anthemides takes the reins of the Lady Conquistador Volleyball program.  He will have the luxury of returning five players from last year's squad including three starters from the previous year. Returning sophomores are Maggie Hans, Rae Mulitalo, Celia Martin, Sherri Darden and Chelsea Lee. Muliatalo was a second team all conference selection as a freshman

With the addition of local four local talented players and a couple of out of state players, the squad is looking to repeat last year’s success.

Work ethic and determination is the new coach’s agenda. “We will not be outhustled, no one will work harder than we will, we will be focused and determined to leave it all on the floor, every outing. When we accomplish that, the results will be tremendous.  I have set certain goals for the players this year. A great big part is their academic work. We are implementing a few new things to ensure that the girls will succeed in the classroom. Their performance in the classroom will be big criteria on furthering their careers once they are out of the junior college level”.

The Lady Conquistadors will once again face a grueling schedule.  The Coach Anthemides will see his squad in action with a pre-season scrimmage at Seward County on August 20th. Dodge City will play in 30-plus matches this year including 14 matches in the rugged Jayhawk Western Division.  The Lady Conquistadors will see action in several tournaments including three trips to Colorado and trip to Liberal, KS for the Oz Fest tournament at Seward County.

The support the team received last year was amazing. We hope to keep it growing. We would like to extend our invitation to all the local and surrounding area volleyball enthusiasts to come to our games and be a part of our growing program.
